We spotted these funky throw pillows on a neutral toned couch on the blog, apartmenttherapy.com. We love the idea of mixing different bold prints if you have a solid colored couch. In this photo they used the Marimekko Metsänväki fabric.

We found this awesome vintage crib on the blog, Economical Baby. The old vinyl was removed and replaced with some cool blue Unikko fabric. This is a great way to put a new twist on an old piece without going over budget.

Marimekko Takes Center Stage

David Mamet’s play, “Sexual Perversity in Chicago” features cameo appearances by cool Marimekko fabrics. The set designer used sliding Marimekko wall panels to execute seamless scene changes. In this particular part of the play, the Mökki fabric is in the background, proving that Marimekko patterns can certainly create a scene.

In the Mood for Marimekko Wallpaper

When watching In the Mood for Love (2000), a film set in 1960’s Hong Kong, I noticed some Marimekko in the background. In one character’s apartment, the walls are papered in purple Appelsiini fabric. I thought it looked really interesting and so I did some research to see if I could wallpaper a wall using Marimekko fabric. I found great instructions on HGTV.com, which I am yet to try. I think this would be a great project for the adventurous designer.
