Marimekko vs Dolce & Gabbana in Trademark Dispute

As you may have read previously, Dolce & Gabbana has been using Marimekko’s trademarked Unikko pattern on dresses – without permission. Now, in response to Marimekko’s suit against Dolce & Gabbana, the Italian company has sought to declare Marimekko’s Unikko trademark invalid. Wow. What do you think?

Marimekko’s Unikko pattern was designed in 1964 by Maija Isola and is easily Marimekko’s most recognizable print.

    I don’t understand how this has even arisen, surely you can’t just go round undoing other people’s trademarks and patents? We’re in for a very bad ride if that’s the case.
    Tho if so, presumably Marimmekko could just undo D&Gs and take it back! and maybe the rights to some of their stuff at the same time…
